About Me

The Bell Tower @ Furman
I am a South Carolina native who loves her sweet tea, pearls, and fried chicken!

I grew up in the upstate of SC and I am proud to say a product of the public school system. After high school, I attended Furman University (Go Paladins!) in Greenville, SC. While at Furman, I was a member of SC Teaching Fellows, Sigma Alpha Iota, and a member of many instrumental (band) ensembles. While at Furman, I obtained by BA in Elementary Education and my Masters in Special Education with an Emphasis in Mental Disabilities.

My teaching career started with me teaching sixth grade math in Spartanburg for two years. Due to a series of random events, I took a job back in my hometown. Craziness!
I currently teach World History to 130 sixth graders. I occasionally miss the days of only 60 students and math processes, but teaching history has presented its unique set of challenges and rewards.

Salvador de Bahia
During the summer of 2013, I spent a month in Brazil fulfilling requirements for the Teachers for Global Classrooms program. It was an amazing experience! I learned so  much about the culture and have made many lifelong friends (I have over 200 Brazilian friends on FB so that tidbit is completely legit)!

Brazilian Hot Dogs!

When not at school, I’m usually with my friends/ family or working my second job. I’m an ABA therapist for children with Autism. I LOVE my job and I’m probably overly attached to my clients, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
My favorite season is fall because I can layer like crazy, there is cooler weather, and football season! I also enjoy Latin dancing (especially salsa and bachata), desserts (brownies and cheesecake), and traveling to visit family and friends across the country.

Thanks for taking the time to visit & I hope you enjoy reading about my little slice of heaven!
